The aspect ratio (length/diameter) of wollastonite increases the strength in a number of construction based materials while improving dimensional stability and resistance to drying and freeze-thaw cracking. In addition, the availability of calcium ions from the wollastonite mineral structure enables decreased setting times in some systems and can act as a counter to acidic media due to the mineral’s high pH.
